2003

This is kind of a cheesy post that I don’t expect anyone to actually pay attention to. My main purpose of posting it is, I wanted to include this video to our blog video archive for my own personal enjoyment and this is the only way I know how to do this. Although if you do decide to look at the video, first, let me warn you it is about 10 minutes long. Second, let me explain what it is. I love video editing and a few years back I realized I am horrible at scrapbooking, so instead of doing the traditional scrapbook, my plan is to make video scrapbooks of every year. This is a video I made about 4 years ago of 2003, unfortunately this is the only year that I have actually done. Also the quality of the video really isn’t the best for several reasons I won’t get into. Please do not judge my editing skills from this.

One final warning, for those of you that were a part of our lives back then, do not blame me if you are in any of the pictures, it’s your own fault for hanging out with us!!

Brooklynn’s First Masterpiece

Ok this may not be a masterpiece, but I think she did very well. I am also proud to announce that there were only a few crayons that were harmed during the production of this artwork.

Boomer Norman Buhler

l_7331882a529d79302f2bde37518347b2.jpg
Yesterday wasn’t exactly the greatest day of my life. My family had to make one of the hardest decisions anyone with a pet will ever make, and we put Boomer, our St. Bernard to sleep yesterday morning. He had been having some pretty serious health issues, and ever since our other dog Allie passed away a few years ago, he’s always seemed a bit lonely without her.

Taking care of a task like this can never be easy, but at least we were able to make it a little bit nicer for Boomer. My cousin is an animal control officer, and so rather than take care of things in a cold, empty vet’s office, we did it in the backyard, in the shade where Boomer liked to hang out. Once Boomer had passed, we buried him below the Maple tree in the back where he used to spend a lot of time napping, and rolling around in the mud.

Since my sister said it better, I’ll simply point you to read what she had to say, since it pretty much sums up everything I wanted to, but better.

Tagged

I have been tagged by my cute little sister-in-law Jenna. Hopefully I don’t bore you with my answers, but this might give you all a little in site to our world.

How long have you been together? 7 years

How long did you date? We knew each other for 6 years before we got married, but only dated 6 months.

How old is he? 28

Who eats more? Him, I hope!

Who said “I love you” first? Josh told me he loved me after the first week of actual dating. I thought he was totally crazy, but then again, I am the one that decided I was going to marry him 2 1/2 years before we ever went on our first date!!!

Who is taller? Josh, when I am not wearing shoes he makes me feel like a shorty!

Who is smarter? Josh by far. I never realized how smart he was until one day after we had been married for about 6 months, I finally realized I was married to a genius. I laugh when I look back because I remember feeling hurt that he had hid his intelligence from me. Now I realize he is just humble when it comes to that (most of the time). But I am so grateful for his intelligence and for all that he has accomplished in his life!

Who does the laundry? Most of the time it is me, but if I start slacking Josh is pretty good at helping out, especially with folding clothes because I hate doing that.

Who does the dishes? We both do.

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? I do

Who pays the bills? Josh paid them for the first 6 years of marriage, and when I became a stay-at-home-mom, I felt it only right that I take that burden from him.

Who mows the lawn? In the past it has been which ever one of us got there first, but again since I started staying home I have chosen to take over that chore (partially because I really enjoy doing it).

Who cooks dinner? I cook the everyday meals, but if we want something really nice or gourmet, it is all Josh. He makes the best pancakes (from scratch) I have ever had!!! He made them for my parents two weeks ago, and my mom is still talking about them.

Who is more stubborn? That is 100% me. As my mom would say, I have inherited the Webb Stubbornness!

Who kissed who first? Josh kissed me first. It was on my parents front step on August 20, 2001. He had just dropped me off from our date. We spent the evening with a bunch of friends at his house watching “What Lies Beneath”. One funny fact about that night, I just so happened to be wearing my favorite sweat shirt at the time. I later boxed that sweat  shirt up because I no longer wore it but it had sentimental value. Shortly after we had Brooklynn, I was going through some old boxes and found the sweat shirt. We had both forgotten that on the front of the shirt in large print it said “BROOKLYN”. Cheesy, I know!

Who asked who out? Josh asked me on our first date (a 3 Doors Down Concert), but only because several other friends had already canceled on him.

Who proposed? Josh, he made me his 10 cow wife!

Who is more sensitive? I like to pretend it’s Josh, but it’s me!

Who has more siblings? We have the same. Two Brothers and One Sister.

What were you doing 10 years ago? July 1998, I was just getting ready to start my Senior year. I just became president of my High School Marching Band!!! ( I know some of you are laughing right now, but I really did love it). I spent every morning at the school practicing with the band. That year I attempted to learn the baritone. I was really bad, but it completed my ambition to play, woodwinds, percussion , and brass. To be honest, I was never really good at any of them!!!!

Five things on my to do list

1. Go to the Library

2. Feed the Cat

3. Go to the Aquarium with the fam

4.Figure out Dinner

5. Win the Lottery

Things I would do if I was suddenly made a billionaire:

1. Pay off our remaining debt.

2. Go on a cruise.

3. Move to Midway and make my parents move there too.

4. By annual passes to Disneyland for the rest of our lives.

5. Buy Josh the TV that he has been drooling over for past few years.

6. Set a side money for Brooklynn’s future and any other children we may have.

Five places I have lived

1. West Jordan

2. Provo

3. Midvale

4. Riverton

5. (Still waiting on that fifth place)

Five jobs I have had

1. Harmons -Bagger

2. Marquee Restaurant - Hostess

3. Wal-mart – Housewares Customer Service Specialist

4. Waterford Institution -Software Tester

5. KJZZ Television – TV Operations (I am the only one at this house certified to operate a television, I have the certificate framed to prove it!!!)

Things people don’t know about me: I love the smell of coffee. I am allergic to neosporin. I am extremely scared of dogs. I can not eat meat with bones attached, if Josh cuts the bone out for me, then it’s OK. Even before I had Brooklynn, I loved watching PBS kids shows like Sesame Street. My favorite movies when I was little were “Jaws” and “King Kong.” I also dreamed of being a construction sign holder or a Truck Driver when I was little. For awhile I truly wanted to be a Police Officer. I even took Criminal Justice classes while in High School.

Okay, I tag everyone & anyone else who wants to play along! Copy and paste these questions and your answers on your blog. You’re it! Go!

A Fashion Statement

For those of you that saw Brooke a lot as a baby, probably remember how she was always wearing hats. She wore them so much that I had people concerned that it may slow down the growth of her hair. Well about the age of sixth months she decided she was the boss and hats just weren’t cool. Since that point we have not been able to get her to wear anything on her head for more then 5 seconds (except her sunglasses because she is obsessed with those).

This last weekend, by her own choice, she decided it was time time to try the hat thing again, but instead of using a real hat, she decided that her swim diaper would work just as good. Here are some pictures of her modeling her new look. This is how she spent a lot of her time Saturday and Sunday. If it fell off, she would bring it to one of us so that we could help her put it back on. Just remember, this was her idea, not ours!

Silas Blaine Webb

Finally little Silas came home from the hospital last week. I have included some pics so you can see just how cute this little boy is. I have never seen a baby with so much expression this young. The pics don’t completely show it, but when you hold this little guy you know exactly how he feels just by his face. He already has a huge smile, and when he is uncomfortable or grumpy, his little forehead completely wrinkles up!

I love being an aunt!

Electric Bill Update.

Because I know you are all dying to know whether my suffering in the heat has been worth it, here is your update. I just received my electric bill and it is 34% less then it was last year. To me this is a huge victory. I saved a lot more then I was expecting to save. I realize the weather was probably a factor, since the beginning of June was fairly cool, but I feel that my hot afternoon’s and keeping my blinds shut all day (or at least when the sun is shining on that particular window) definitely made a difference. If there is anyone else out there that is trying to cut cost or just trying to go green to save our planet, this is definitely one approach that works.

Although, now that my experiment is over I think I will be taking the advice that several of you gave me and changing my electric plan over so it is the same every month.

Thanks for all of your input!

Twins Update

The twins are doing very well. They do have names now, the little girl is Madison Taylor Webb and the little boy is Silas Blaine Webb. Shortly after my last post, Silas was put in the NICU because of some breathing and eating problems. He is still in the NICU, but is doing very well. He is breathing on his own, he is just still struggling with eating, but hopefully he will be able to come home soon.

Madison is doing very well. She stayed at the hospital for about a week and a half, but is now home with Blaine and Jenny.

I have had a lot of request for pictures, so here are just a few. These pictures are all of Madison, I promise I am not playing favorites, unfortunately it has been a little difficult for me to get pictures of Silas, but I promise to get some up soon. Although, I can tell you we have decided Silas will look a lot like Blaine. He has the rounder Webb face, the Webb jaw and blonde hair, so he also looks a lot like Brooklynn.

Blaine holding Madison’s hand the day she was born.

It’s Too Hot!

It’s the lovely time of year when the air conditioner seems as if it is running nonstop. As many of you know, earlier this year I quit my job and so now we are living off one income. We’ve been pretty good at cutting costs where we can, and one of these places is our Electric Bill.

So a few weeks ago, I was reviewing our Electric Bill history, and was blown away at how much we paid last summer to have air conditioning. The years prior to last weren’t too bad because Josh and I both worked during the day so we would let the house heat up and the cat would just take refuge in the basement where it was cool. Last year, Brooklynn was just a few months old, and I was told by a Doctor that young babies are the most content when the temperature is between 70 and 72 degrees, so that’s where we kept our house, which felt wonderful.

Well now Brooklynn is older and the thought of having to pay that astronomical Electric Bill again just made me sick. So I have adjusted our thermostat this year to be 77 degrees during the day except on weekends it’s at 75 because Josh does not handle heat very well at all.

Yesterday I was listening to a morning news show and they had a so-called Expert who said that for every degree you adjust your thermostat above 72 you should save 3% on your bill. Well for me that is only a savings of 15% and I feel like I am roasting. I have been debating with myself all day whether the loss of comfort is worth a 15% savings. I am hoping that this so-called Expert is wrong and when I get my Electric Bill in the next few weeks, my suffering will have been worth it.

Anyways I would love to hear from some of you what your thermostat is at, so maybe it will inspire me to just deal with the heat and quit complaining.
