Family Pictures

I am such a slacker when it comes to getting professional pictures done. Partially because I hate pictures of myself, so why would I pay someone to take one? Also because, Brooklynn has had professional pictures done twice before now, first for her Blessing, and second for her 1st Birthday. Both times we had to go twice, because the first attempt she would not cooperate. So I would take her home all frustrated, and then the next morning we would start all over.  Josh and I also haven’t had any professional pictures done of the two of us since our wedding day. So it was definitely time for us to get an updated family picture.

Lucky for us, Josh’s parents had the same idea. Josh’s mom set up a time for the whole Buhler Clan to get pictures done. She hired this great photographer Linc Palmer, who also happens to be my Brother-in-law’s brother. He did such a great job. He is also going to be the photographer at my brother Scott’s wedding next month.

I have only seen a few of the pictures, but here are my favorites so far.

Shhhh…. Don’t Tell Brooklynn There’s A Bow In Her Hair

As most of you have witnessed, Brooklynn’s hair normally looks like it has not been combed in days. I promise, this is not because of lazy parents that do not care. Normally Brooke gets her hair done at least twice a day (if not more) in the morning, after nap time, and then again if we are going out that night.

Normally I try not to enforce a big fancy hairdo with pretty bows and berets, because I know it’s just not going to last, but I have found a trick. She normally does ok with ponytails, so that is what she normally wears. I have some bows that clip on very quick and easy to a ponytail. If I am sly enough I can clip the bow on and she has no idea. The only problem is, if she realizes there is a bow in her hair, because someone touched it, pointed at it, or she sees it in the mirror, bye bye bow, and bye bye ponytail, and then her hair looks like this.

So if you see a bow in her hair, shhhhhhh.

Cupcake Party

For some reason the start of Fall always rings a little bell in my head that says “let’s bake.” So that’s what we decided to do Sunday afternoon, we made cupcakes and then decorated them.

Here is a display of our sad attempt to be creative. I personally like the cupcake Josh made with the orange eyes, and the licorice comb-over.

Here is Brooklynn just being Brooklynn. Her favorite part was eating the licorice.

This was our attempt to get a family picture with the cupcakes.

Josh or Daddy?

Apparently I have not been as good as I should with calling Josh “Daddy” in front of Brooklynn. A few weeks ago, we noticed this problem surfacing, when instead of asking for Daddy, she would ask for Josh. We always correct her, and then she uses the word daddy just fine. Yesterday, we had a family Baby Blessing to attend. After the blessing, we went to my brother’s house for refreshments. In the middle of all the chaos, we heard this little girl yelling for Josh. Apparently Brooke was trying to get her daddy’s attention. Everyone looked at us with surprised looks that we would be teaching our toddler to use our real names instead of our parent names. It appears that she liked the attention she got from everyone by calling him Josh, because for rest of the day, he was no longer daddy, he was Josh. This is something we have not encouraged, but unfortunately I think we will be battling for awhile. So if you see Josh, and Brooklynn is there, feel free to call him Daddy! J/K!

The Children’s Museum

Today was Labor Day so Josh had the day off from work. We originally had great plans of working on the stairs of our deck (which are half way done), but unfortunately when we woke up, everything was wet and cold, so instead we decided to have a family day. We packed up Brooke and headed to the Gateway to the Children’s Museum for the first time. We were so surprised at just how much fun it really was. Here are some of my favorite pictures (I realize Brooke is not looking at the camera for a majority of the pictures, but it is extremely hard to get the attention of a toddler when there are so many new and exciting things to look at.)

After the Museum we took a little walk down by the fountains and found our brick. This brick was a wedding present we gave to ourselves when we first got married. We don’t go to the Gateway much, but whenever we do, we always stop to find our brick.
