P.O.T.W. #5 Singing Pumpkins

…Or should I say V.O.T.W.

Instead of a picture for this week, I thought I would put a link to a video of Josh’s famous singing pumpkins. This video is from 2 years ago. Josh made a flash animation that projected onto real pumpkins, making them appear as if the pumpkins were really singing. The neighborhood kids loved them, and we had a lot of fun with them too.

This year the singing pumpkins are on vacation and will not be making an appearance for Halloween, but I won’t be surprised to see them in upcoming years.

Check out the link, it’s a lot of fun. I am very proud of Josh and his creative abilities and knowledge on how to do so many fun things! Singing pumpkins!

Witch Field Trip

About a month ago, a few neighbors and I decided to start a play group for a few of the younger kids on our street. We normally get together for a few hours once a week at someone’s house and then the plan is to do a field trip once a month.

Today was our first field trip.  We dressed the kids up in their Halloween costumes, and took them to Gardner Village to see the Witches.

Here is Brooke with some of her cute little friends.

This little girl with Brooke is such a cutie. She is 3 years old and is the same height as Brooke (shows you just how tall Brooke is, or how short she is.) Brooke loves running around with her. Like Brooke she is full of energy, she just knows how to control it better then Brooke does. Hopefully Brooke will learn with time!

We had so much fun. Brooke was a little scared of the Witches, except the flying one on the bicycle. She had more fun running around and seeing how tired she could make mommy!

*If there are any neighbors that would like to join our play group, please let me know. The more the merrier!

(Boys are welcome, we just haven’t had any show up yet)

P.O.T.W. #4

This picture is actually from 2003. Josh and I use to love carving Jack-O-Lanterns. Ever since we first got married, we would either grow, or buy the perfect pumpkins. Then we would rent a scary halloweeny movie like “Psycho.” We would lay down a large tarp in our family room, and watch our movie, and just carve away.

We have not done this since Brooke was born, and probably won’t do it for a few more years until she is a little older. Although, this is a tradition that when our children are old enough to handle, we definitely plan on continuing!

Seven years ago today was one of the happiest days of my life, it was the day Josh proposed to me.

It was a Sunday and I was working a show at KJZZ called “The Coach’s Show,” which meant I went in around 11am and got home at 4pm. During this time Josh came to my parents house and asked my father if he could marry me. Of course he said yes (my parents loved Josh from the first time they met him).

After I was done with work, I came home to get ready for my evening with Josh.  As I was getting ready, my brother Scott walked in the door and handed me a plastic cow with a note on it. The note on the cow was the first of many notes that would follow that evening leading me on a scavenger hunt.

Josh with the help of some friends and family, had left cows with messages at several places that were meaningful in our relationship. There was our favorite restaurant, the High School where we met, our favorite rollerblading spot, and several others.

The final clue lead me to the reflection pond at Temple Square. There I found Josh waiting for me. He was holding a rose and a stuffed cow that was holding a jewelry box. He got down on one knee and asked if I would marry him. I swear I answered yes right away, but if you ask Josh he’ll tell you it took me ten minutes to give him a yes answer.

I love Josh and I am so grateful every day that he asked me. He is my best friend, an amazing father, and a wonderful husband. I can’t imagine my life without him.

So all of you that have asked or wondered about the cows in our kitchen, there is your explanation. I keep them visible so that I will always remember the day Josh asked me to be his 10 cow wife!

Brooklynn’s First Pumpkin

Last week we let Brooklynn decorate her first pumpkin. Obviously she is still too young to carve her own pumpkin, so we decided to let her put stickers on her pumpkin.

Earlier that day, I went in the backyard and filled our wagon full of the remaining pumpkins we had grown this year. We let Brooklynn look at the pumpkins and choose the one she wanted. Then we gave her a bunch of stickers (yes, she has gotten over her fear of stickers, but is still scared of band-aids) and she went crazy decorating and rearranging stickers. Here is her finished pumpkin!

Here she is trying to carry it. She was very determined to be the one to carry it.

And when she got sick of carrying it, she put it back in the wagon with the other pumpkins!

Good Times With Old Friends!

So as many of you know, Josh and I met in High School. No, we weren’t High School sweethearts or anything gushy like that, although we did pal around with the same group of friends quite a bit. So as we have gone through our post HS life, we regularly run into old friends at weddings, reunions, demolition derbies, you know, those sort of events. We usually have the same conversation no matter who the friend may be.

“It’s so sad we never see each other, blah, blah, blah”

“Yes, we definitely should hang out, blah, blah, blah”

That’s pretty much where it usually ends.

Well I am proud to announce that after a little push from our friends Candi and Liz, we finally did something about it. Last Sunday night we invited a bunch of our old friends to a BBQ at Josh’s parents house (thanks Arlene and Gary). We had so much fun laughing and reminiscing, and discovering that I got pretty, and that Liz really needs to start wearing Mary Kay  (inside jokes). It really was so much fun to see everyone. I really hope we do this again soon.

Here is a picture of some of the fun friends that came. Hopefully everyone will be able to make it next time. Hopefully we can find out where everyone is before next time!

We love you guys! It was awesome!

Pirate Princess

Last week, Josh and I took Brooklynn to Gardner Village to take pictures of our little Pirate Princess. This is Brooklynn’s Halloween costume for this year.

Here is my favorite picture. We had a little exposure problem, but I think it gives the picture a fun look to it!

Brooklynn’s First Four Wheeling Adventure!

The last weekend in September, Josh’s sister Jenna and her husband Chris invited the whole Buhler Clan up to Chris’s Family’s Cabin. The Palmer Cabin is this amazing cabin up by Duschene. It is completely surrounded by beautiful scenary, and more importantly to the Buhler Family, many dirt roads for four wheeling.

This trip was Brooke’s first real attempt at four wheeling. She only lasted about 30 minutes all together, but I think that was a real accomplishment for her. Lucky for us, Josh’s mom is amazing with Brooke, and is always willing to help out. So when Brooke decided she was done, Arlene took her back to the cabin, and let Josh and I continue playing for the afternoon. Thank you Arlene for all of your help with Brooke, we really appreciate it!

Here are some fun pictures to show you what a good time we had.

While everyone was getting ready to head out on the four wheelers, Brooklynn discovered Grandpa’s Ipod.

Here is Josh modeling Brooklynn’s helmet and four wheeler (she really doesn’t go out on this four wheeler it’s just a toy).

This is me demonstrating how we kept Brooke on the four wheeler. This is the carrier I used when she was like 6 months old, but she still fits, barely.

Here is our whole family on one four wheeler.

Here is Grandpa Gary while we were out on the trail. This shows you how beautiful the leaves were.

Here is Josh and I at the end of our ride. I think this is the dirtiest I ever remember being! It’s hard to see in the small picture, but we were covered with dirt. My hair felt like it was 3 times thicker then normal, because there was so much dirt in it.

Anyways we had a great weekend, other then Brooke being too excited to sleep again (which makes me oh so excited for our upcoming trip to Mesquite) .
