Yes, yes you read correctly. Josh and I swore our child would never be one of those leash children. We were going to be parents that could handle our children and our children were going to be perfect little angels that always obeyed. Then this little whirlwind we call Brooklynn came into our lives. We love our Brooklynn more then anything, but she is a handful. She recently broke the harness on her nice stroller meaning she can’t ride in it until we get it fixed. She has figured out how to stop and tip over her umbrella stroller, and refuses to hold hands, (unless she is crossing the street, atleast we’ve taught her one thing.)
Well after several suggestions from friends and family, I finally gave into the idea of using a leash. Then my cousin Irene, offered to give me her daughter’s old leash. What could it hurt? It’s free, why not try it out for a day.
Well last Monday, Josh was in San Fransisco for work, so I thought it would be a good time for me to spoil Brooke a bit and take her to the Zoo. Since the strollers were not an option, and I really wasn’t in the mood to chase her all over the zoo and try to keep her out of trouble, I thought it was the perfect time to try the leash. I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised. The leash was a success. It was the fastest I have ever seen the zoo. She ran from exhibit to exhibit, but I think she really liked her freedom and felt like she was in charge.
Here is a picture of her and her leash. It’s actually really cute. It’s a little monkey backpack. She can put stuff in the pockets, and then I just hold onto the tail.

This is the closest I got to have her actually look at the camera. There was just so much to see, why waste time to look at the camera, right!

Here is the Cheetah that scared me to death. Brooke and I were the only ones in the viewing area, so I took her right up to the glass to get a good look at the Cheetah. Apparently the Cheetah was not in the mood for visitors, it lunged at the glass, stood on it’s hind legs and growled furiously. I jumped back screaming and Brooke just looked up at me like “what’s your problem mom?”

This picture I just had to take, because this monkey was so funny. He kept putting the bag on his head. It was cute!

For those of you that know my fear of big dogs, know that it was not me that took this picture. I probably would have freaked out if I saw this in person, but looking at the picture afterwards (knowing my child is not hurt) I think it’s pretty cute. Yes, I do allow Brooklynn to go near big dogs as long as someone who is responsible (and not me), is with her. I hope she will learn to love big dogs, and maybe someday I will too.
One of my BFF’s from high school, Melissa had this on her blog and it was fun to read… So have fun reading how lame I was but I want to hear about You!
HIGH SCHOOL DAYS
1. Did you date someone from your school? Yes a few, but most importantly, that’s where I first laid eyes on my wonderful husband.
2. What kind of car did you drive? My super cute Dodge Daytona.
3. What was the most embarrassing moment of high school? Oh so many, but the one that stands out, is when we were on a Band trip to the Holiday Bowl. Our bus broke down outside of Mesquite, which extended our already long drive to California by 5 hours. About an hour from our destination, I got sick and puked on the bus. Luckily my mom was a chaperone, and being the amazing mom that she is, was prepared with a brown bag. As I leaned over to puke on the poor, sleeping, unsuspecting victim (who I believe was Megan, sorry), my mom hurried and caught it in the bag. As soon as we got to the Hotel, before the bus could even park, Mr. Leyva, my mom, and I got off the bus, so I could go puke in the bushes! Oh wonderful memories!
4. Were you a party animal? Not so much a party animal, but I did enjoy a good party!
5. Were you considered a flirt? I was accused of being a flirt once or twice, but I think I was fairly shy.
6. Were you in band, orchestra, or choir? Band all the WAY!!! I was even the Pres., that’s how much I loved it!
7. Were you a nerd? I was in band, what do you think!
8. Were you on any varsity teams? Does Band count?
9. Did you get suspended/ expelled? No, but I almost did not graduate because I skipped Physic’s a few too many times!
10. Can you still sing the fight song? Heck yes!
11. Who were your favorite teachers? Mr. Durfey, Mrs. Leyva, Mrs. Haas, and Mr. John.
12. Where did you sit during lunch? I either went out to Lunch, or sat in the Band Room Foyer.
13. What was your school’s full name? West Jordan High School
14. School mascot? Gooooo JAGUARS!
15. Did you go to Homecoming and who with? Yes
Junior Year – Josh G
Senior Year – Ben H
16. If you could go back and do it again, would you? NO WAY once was enough why would I torture myself again?

My Junior year I was lucky enough to go to three.

THS – (I forgot his name, but I worked with him at Harmons)
DHS – Steve M
Senior Year, my boyfriend just bought a car and had no money to go. My good friend Tyler asked me, but I felt bad going with someone else, so my boyfriend and I went to Taco Bell for Dinner, and then went to the dollar movies with Blaine and Jenny to See “Mighty Joe Young” (I must admit, this was probably my favorite of all my Prom Nights)
22. Are you planning on going to your 10 year reunion? I haven’t decided yet!
23. Looking back, what advice would you give yourself?
I would tell myself:
Date multiple people, don’t waste time in relationships.
Be a better friend.
Take school a little more seriously.
Ok…all you bloggers…let’s hear about your HS experience!
On October 18, my brother Scott married his long time sweetheart Marie. They had a wonderful ceremony and reception at the Aspen Landing Reception Center. The ceremony was beautiful, the reception center was beautiful, and it was so much fun seeing so many friends and family come to support them. I wish them all the happiness in the world, and I am so glad to officially have Marie and her girls a part of our family.
Here is a picture of Scott and his new family, or as my sister Jennifer would say “Scott and his women.”
Here is Marie and her beautiful girls!

Here is my family, minus 3 people.
Here is the beautiful flower-girl and a few memorable moments from her. She actually started off very well. She came out and looked at everyone and smiled and laughed at the top of the stairs. Unfortunately everyone laughed back including me, which I think scared her. The last two pictures show you what happened from there.
I want you all to notice, there are flower petals on the ground. She may not have done it gracefully, but she did her job.
I was lucky enough to help Scott and Marie plan their special day. It’s only been 7 years since I planned my own wedding, but I forgot how much work really goes into it. Luckily, I have happened to meet very talented and special people over the years. My mother-in-law made the Wedding Cake, my brother-in-law’s brother was the photographer, and a friend I have from working at KJZZ was the Reverend. I feel so blessed to have had the help of these three people and everyone else that helped us make this a great and rememberable day, not only for Scott and Marie, but hopefully for all that could attend.
We had a great Halloween this year. It is one of our favorite holidays, and we look forward to it all year long. Halloween lasted about a week for us. The week was filled with fun party’s, a Trunk or Treat, pumpkin decorating, visiting the Witches at Gardner Village, a Halloween puppet show (which we only stayed at for 2 minutes before Brooke got scared) Trick or Treating to the relatives, and eating candy and pumpkin cookies like crazy.
Here is the best family picture we could get. Brooke is in her Pirate Princess costume. I went as Elly May from the Beverly Hillbillies (I know not that creative, but I had to do something.) Last but not least, Josh went as Captain Crunch. He thought of this idea about a week before Halloween, but we put it off until the night before. We started making his costume at 10:30pm, finished around 1:30am and then he was off to work as Captain Crunch by 8am.
Here is Blaine and Jenny and their cute little Tigers. I think Jenny is holding Madison and Blaine has Silas. Normally it is really easy to tell them apart, but the tiger costumes are throwing me off.
Here is Brooke with her loot of candy, excluding the whole bag of Kit Kats she took from Grandma and Grandpa Buhlers House. The funny thing is, she does not like candy. She has not eaten one piece. She carries the basket from room to room, sorting them, playing with them, dumping them out, putting them back. I am sure next year will be different and I should just enjoy my sugar free baby while it lasts.
Brooke has discovered Little People. Actually she has had her Little People since Christmas of last year (thank you Grandma and Grandpa Buhler), but just recently really started playing with them. It is becoming a daily activity that can last for a few hours (seriously, I am not exaggerating). Well tonight, Brooke decided that her Little People needed to eat, which makes sense. She eats, we eat, the cat eats, so of course, they should eat too. She had a cup of milk and dumped a little on the table, then proceeded to take each toy individually and put it’s mouth into the pool of milk. After each toy had a chance to sip some milk, it was back to play time.
I love seeing her personality show through more and more each day. It makes me excited to see what she is going to discover and think of next!
Just a reminder to all of you Little People owners, make sure your People aren’t hungry!
