Brooklynn’s 2 Year Pictures

I took Brooklynn to get her Two Year old pictures done today at Kiddie Kandids. I am happy to say, we actually did it in one day. The last two years, it took two tries before we could get her to settle down for some good pictures (yes, even when she was a brand new baby). I think everyone at Kiddie Kandids was exhausted by the time we left, I know I was. I love my highly active child that is so interested in everything,  (and I mean everything). After checking out the camera, looking at every prop in the studio, trying out every chair, squeezing every yellow ducky, we finally made it through one set of pictures. We were supposed to do two backdrops, but by the end of the first, we decided that was plenty! Luckily, the photographer did a great job, and we got some great pictures.

P.O.T.W. Diet Coke and Cinnamon Bears Bouquet

When it comes to Valentine’s Day and Our Anniversary, Josh and I have never given each other gifts. When we first got married we agreed that it would be better to spend money doing a fun activity and making memories then buying each other an actual gift.

This Valentines I had to go help cover a shift at KJZZ in the morning. We had already gone out the night before, so when I got home I didn’t expect anything. Although, to my surprise, when I walked in the door, I found this beautiful Diet Coke and Cinnamon Bears bouquet (two of my favorite things), covered in tiny hearts that Brooke had colored. I know this was a simple thing, but it made me just as happy as if I were given a whole bouquet of roses, and I know I will always remember this bouquet. I love Josh and I love his creativity.

Lava Hot Springs

Those that know me, and know me well, should know of my love for a little town called Lava Hot Springs. It’s a place I have been going to since I was in diapers, and now I get to take my daughter in her diapers.

It is a little town in Southern Idaho with a population of about 520. It may be small, but but there is so much to do there and when you don’t want to do anything, it’s a great place to just hangout and relax.

Josh and I go about 3 times a year. Once in February for skiing or just winter fun, and to soak in the world famous natural hot springs. Again in April with my family, where we just hangout, visit all the local tourist sites and relax in the hot water. Then again during the summer with all my Webb cousins. We camp by the river, play in the cold pools, float down the river, and of course soak in the hot water. If you have never been there, I highly suggest you check it out.

So last week was our February trip. This year we decided to skip the skiing and just take Brooklynn sledding instead. We had a lot of fun doing that, but we are hoping that sometime in the next few years, Brooke will be ready to try the slopes. We spent a lot of time playing in the hot pools, which Brooklynn loved. Every night when we came back to our condo from the hot pools, we would find a whole herd of deer just right outside our building. I think this is the closest I have ever seen a deer (not counting the zoo). We also spent a lot of down time watching movies and just spending some good, quality, family time together.

This “daughter like father” picture is one of my favorite pictures from our trip. Josh brought his laptop so he could take care of a few thing for work, (or let’s be honest, Josh doesn’t go anywhere without his laptop). One of Brooke’s favorite things about going on vacation, is that we pull out our portable DVD player and let her carry it around and watch all her movies. So one morning while I was cooking breakfast, I looked over and this is what I saw.

I love getting away with my little family and feel so blessed to have the opportunity to do so!

Birthday Celebrations

So apparently this year I am about 3 weeks behind on everything, at least when it comes to blogging. So bare with me as I attempt to catch up over the next few days.

Brooklynn had her 2nd Birthday a few weeks ago. It turned into a full week celebration filled with parties, family, and fun.

We started her birthday festivities on Sunday with a family party at Grandma and Grandpa Buhlers. It was a special party for all the February birthday’s, so she got to celebrate with her Aunt Shalise and Aunt Jenna (next year we will be celebrating baby Jack’s birthday too). Josh worked his magic, and made a “Rocket” cake from “Little Einsteins.” Then it came to presents, and of course she was spoiled by everyone.

Then for her actual birthday, Josh took the day off work. We spent the day doing Brooklynn’s favorite activities. We started the day at Burger King, because she loves the playland there. After an early lunch we headed to the Childrens Museum where we spent the afternoon playing.

That night she enjoyed her second birthday party. This one with the Webb family. This time we had a “Tinkerbell” cake since it is one of her favorite movies, and “Tinkerbell” has turned into a new nickname for her. Once again she was spoiled by everyone.

As our present to her, Josh and I gave her a tricycle. She has had a lot of fun on it, but still isn’t that good with the pedaling thing, but we are getting there.

Rest of the week was filled with birthday surprises dropped off by friends and family.

She is very lucky to have such wonderful grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends, that love her so much and made her day a special one!
