The 80′s Are Back!

80s1Apparently Brooke was born in the wrong decade. The inner 80′s girl inside her has broken lose this last week. She has become obsessed with socks and how many socks she can wear at one time. She’ll wear one or two pairs on her hands, and as many on her feet as she can make fit. It definitely as been entertaining as we go out, because of the different looks and comments that we get. But she is happy and thinks it looks great, and that’s what matters!

Brad Paisley

Last Saturday night,  Josh and I went to the Brad Paisley concert. This was our Mother’s Day/Father’s Day gift to each other, that we have been waiting ALL summer for, and it finally came. Josh and I are both huge Brad Paisley fans and have wanted to see him in concert for years! Jimmie Wayne opened the show, next was Dierks Bentley, and finally Brad Paisley. Really, how could you ask for a better concert? Somehow, Josh is amazing and scored us awesome seats. We were about 15 rows away from the stage at The USANA Amphitheater. We were so close I could see Dierks Bentley spitting while he sang (seriously)!

It rained on us for a little bit, but it seems that Josh and I don’t go to concerts anymore unless it is going to rain on us. I think the rain made the concert even better!

Here is us all excited, waiting for the show to start.

*Notice the nice mountain man look Josh is going for!

This was one of my favorite concerts I have ever been to. It was a great gift and I am so glad we decided to do it!

Preschool

Last Thursday, Brooke had her first day of preschool. Her preschool is a very casual preschool that only goes once a week for an hour and a half, which is probably the perfect amount of time for a two year old.

As we were getting ready that morning, I convinced her to let me take a few pictures of her. The first one she insisted on holding her airplane.

Then I finally convinced her to do a traditional school picture with her backpack.

I was a little concerned at how she was going to handle this new adventure. She started the morning out a little moody, and 10 minutes before walking out the door, we had a severe meltdown because she could not find her “Marty” (a toy zebra). Luckily we were able to find “Marty”, along with all the other toys she insisted on taking in her backpack (it’s a good thing the backpack is more of an accessory then a necessity in preschool).

When we found her class room, she hung onto my leg for maybe 30 seconds until she spotted the toys, and then she forgot I was even there. I was able to sneak away and have the most wonderful hour and a half  of complete freedom all to my self. It was wonderful, I think I am really going to enjoy this preschool thing, at least until the baby comes and ends my alone time.

When it was finally time to pick her up, I thought for sure it would be the same as nursery. As soon as she see’s us, she runs to us, gives us a great big hug, grabs a hand, and off we go. This time I walk in the room, she looks up, runs half way to me, pauses, turns around, and starts saying “I don’t want to go home” and then the flood works began. The teachers just looked at me in shock, and I am thinking great they probably think I am a horrible mom that Brooke is scared of. I finally convinced her we needed to go. She pouted the whole way to the car and for the next 30 minutes because she wanted to go back to school.

I just hope in 10 years, she’ll love school as much as she does now!
