Sienna’s Blessing

On February 7, we were able to bless Sienna. Josh did a wonderful job and gave her a beautiful blessing. I wish I could remember the full blessing, but I know it left me in tears. I love that he is such a wonderful father and has been able to bless my girls.

Weeks before the blessing, I kept debating whether or not I would get Sienna her own blessing dress. I love Brooklynn’s blessing dress, but I also thought it would be really neat for both of my girls to have their own dress that they could keep for the rest of there lives.

I posted this debate on facebook, and my Aunt Alice replied to me informing me that she had a blessing dress just waiting for someone to use. Well it turns out that my Great-Aunt Beth who died 10 years ago (almost to the date of Sienna’s blessing) had bought this dress, but never had a chance to give it away.

To give you a little history on my aunt, she was a very sweet and religious lady who never married, but took it upon herself to buy every blessing dress and tuxedo for all new babies in her family. She bought the blessing dress that my sister and I shared. So when I found out that there was still a dress from her, I was thrilled. Not only was this dress beautiful, but now there was meaning and a connection to a special woman that was like a grandma to me. I truly feel like her spirit was there that day to witness Sienna’s blessing, and I hope someday Sienna will realize what an amazing gift this was.

Also, on a lighter note, two days before the blessing Josh sprained his ankle playing hockey, which caused him to have to hobble up to the front of the chapel on crutches to give Sienna her blessing. A lot of people suggested we postpone it until Josh could carry her himself (I think they were all just bummed that we scheduled it the same day as the Super Bowl), but we agreed that it needed to be done and the sprained ankle was just something we could laugh about later.

All in all, it was a beautiful day with lots of amazing family and some wonderful food (as you can see in the picture of our family, Brooklynn was too busy eating her cookie to smile at the camera!)

Sienna May

It has been awhile since we have posted, but I feel we have had a  good excuse. Although, I have been feeling bad for not updating everyone on Sienna and since this is our 100th post I thought I better throw in some pictures of our beautiful baby girl as well. The first picture is the day Sienna finally came home from the hospital. The other two are ones that my brother-in-law Chris came and took at 2 weeks old. I’ll post more updated ones later.

SBJSienna is now 7 1/2 weeks old and doing wonderful. As many of you know her start in life was not an easy one. After being life-flighted to IMC for a pneumothorax, she spent the next 10 days in the NICU. Luckily the hole in her lung healed quickly and she was only on oxygen for about a day. We were originally told that she would come home after 3 or 4 days, but things didn’t progress as quickly as we hoped. While in the NICU, Josh and I were bombarded with doctors, nurses and specialists giving us their opinion on what could possibly be wrong with our child, none of which had anything to do with the pneumothorax that had brought her here.Sienna3

Finally with a list of doctors we needed to see and tests that needed to be done, our sweet daughter was finally able to come home. We were so grateful to finally have her home with us and finally be able to introduce her to Brooklynn. They became instant friends and Brooke  has been her protector ever since.

The first half of December was filled with doctor appointments, lab work and frustration. When I wasn’t taking care of the kids, I was on the phone chasing down lab results and doctors. I won’t go into all the details, because I don’t feel I have that much time to explain all that she was being tested for.

Finally, two weeks after Sienna came home, we got our first phone call that was good news, all of her lab work came back with good results. As the weeks followed more good news started coming, her ultrasound came back fine, and other issues seem to be working themselves out. She is still being tested for a few minor things, but things are so much better then what we had been told they could be. As of now, she appears to be a very healthy and happy baby.Sienna2

I feel so grateful to a loving Heavenly Father that has blessed our family so much in the last few weeks. It has been the biggest trial that Josh and I have ever faced together. I feel it has brought us closer together as a couple and as a family.  I truly believe that Sienna will have a perfectly normal and healthy life. I am so grateful that she is a part of our family and I am excited to watch her grow. I love my family, they bring me more joy then I could ever express.

Hello World!

Well, the big day finally came, just a little earlier than planned, and it has definitely been a day to remember.

The original plan was for us to go into Riverton Hospital on Monday, November 16th, to induce labor, and welcome our new little baby into the world. It was going to be great – Cindy and I went out on a date Saturday night, we planned on taking it easy on Sunday, and then first-thing Monday morning, we’d go have a baby. However, it turns out that the little girl had plans of her own… Read the rest of this page »

Almost There!

38 weeks

We have almost made it! For those of you wondering if we have chosen a name, the answer is no. I have officially given that responsibility to Josh. I have spent way too much time trying to pick the perfect name, but just can’t decide. We have a list of names we like, but every time I think I have chosen one I change my mind. I am going to quit worrying about it and I’ll let Josh surprise me with her name when she is born. So good luck to Josh and hopefully he chooses wisely!

Help Us Name Our Baby!

Actually, you really don’t get to name our baby, but we do want your opinion. In the poll listed on the side are a few names that we are possibly considering. Josh and I are struggling agreeing on any. I won’t tell you which ones he likes or which ones I like, we simply want to know which ones you like! If you have any REAL suggestions for us that are not listed in the poll, please leave a comment.

It’s A………

GIRL!

We are so excited for Brooke to have a little sister that will be close to her in age! My sister and I were so close growing up. I always considered her one of my best friends and now I hope my girls will have that too! I think Josh is overwhelmed by the thought of being even more out numbered then he already is, but he is a sucker when it comes to his girls. I am thrilled to have another girl to dress up and do all the girly stuff with! And one of the best parts, we have three huge tubs full of pink and purple girly clothes!  All those outfits that I was so sad about when Brooke grew out of, can be used again!

Before going to our big appointment where we would find out the sex of the baby, we decided to steal an idea that my friend Melissa had told me about. The plan was to find out the sex of the baby while surrounded by our entire family. We took a card with an envelope to our appointment, with the intent of having the ultrasound tech write the sex of the baby in the card and seal it up for us. We told the ultrasound tech what we were doing, but during the ultrasound she accidentally let the news slip. She apologized profusely.p2p1

That evening we invited several family members over to find out the news. We made a poster with “It’s A……… Boy / Girl” written at the top and made everyone sign their names under which one they thought. Then we had the two grandmothers open the card. When the news was announced, the ones that guessed right were put into a drawing for movie tickets, my brother in-law Chris was the lucky winner! Then those that guessed wrong were put into another drawing. This was for a toilet tape dispenser (which actually most of the guys thought this was really cool) and Josh’s mom was the lucky winner for that!

We had a great evening , just chatting with family and celebrating the news! We are so grateful to everyone that came to support us and celebrate with us! We have an amazing family! This little girl is definitely going to be loved!

Tell Us What You Think

Tuesday is the big day when we hopefully find out what the sex of baby number 2 will be. We have really enjoyed hearing peoples guesses and now we want to know your guess. There is a poll on the right hand side of the blog. Let us know what you think and if you’d like, leave a comment letting us know why you think that! I promise to post by Wednesday night with the actual results!

Yes, you smarties, you figured it out! We are PREGNANT, and very excited for little number 2 to be joining our family this November. This ultrasound was taken last week. Baby is looking good so far with a strong heartbeat of 158 beats per minute. It will still be awhile before we know the sex of the baby. Josh and I both agree a boy would be fun, but I also really want Brooke to have a sister and a girl would be cheaper for us at this point, since we already would have everything we’ll need. So we will be happy with whatever we get!

This picture was taken the day I told Josh and Brooke the news. I don’t think Brooke really understood, but I think the picture would be the same if she did understand. Brooke is not a big fan of babies right now, but we are working on it. I am sure if she was getting a big sister or brother she would be ecstatic!

Oh, and just in case you don’t get the title of this post, just watch the video below.
