I tag all of you!
In case you have not noticed, we added some links to the bottom right hand side of the page. These links are there to entertain you when you get bored from reading our blog. The Duck Hunt link is a Flash recreation of the original Nintendo game “Duck Hunt” that Josh made a while back. The second link I can has cheezburger? is a site for all you cat lovers. Josh showed this to me about a year ago, and now I check it daily just for a laugh! Enjoy!!!
Finally little Silas came home from the hospital last week. I have included some pics so you can see just how cute this little boy is. I have never seen a baby with so much expression this young. The pics don’t completely show it, but when you hold this little guy you know exactly how he feels just by his face. He already has a huge smile, and when he is uncomfortable or grumpy, his little forehead completely wrinkles up!
I love being an aunt!
Because I know you are all dying to know whether my suffering in the heat has been worth it, here is your update. I just received my electric bill and it is 34% less then it was last year. To me this is a huge victory. I saved a lot more then I was expecting to save. I realize the weather was probably a factor, since the beginning of June was fairly cool, but I feel that my hot afternoon’s and keeping my blinds shut all day (or at least when the sun is shining on that particular window) definitely made a difference. If there is anyone else out there that is trying to cut cost or just trying to go green to save our planet, this is definitely one approach that works.
Although, now that my experiment is over I think I will be taking the advice that several of you gave me and changing my electric plan over so it is the same every month.
Thanks for all of your input!
It’s the lovely time of year when the air conditioner seems as if it is running nonstop. As many of you know, earlier this year I quit my job and so now we are living off one income. We’ve been pretty good at cutting costs where we can, and one of these places is our Electric Bill.
So a few weeks ago, I was reviewing our Electric Bill history, and was blown away at how much we paid last summer to have air conditioning. The years prior to last weren’t too bad because Josh and I both worked during the day so we would let the house heat up and the cat would just take refuge in the basement where it was cool. Last year, Brooklynn was just a few months old, and I was told by a Doctor that young babies are the most content when the temperature is between 70 and 72 degrees, so that’s where we kept our house, which felt wonderful.
Well now Brooklynn is older and the thought of having to pay that astronomical Electric Bill again just made me sick. So I have adjusted our thermostat this year to be 77 degrees during the day except on weekends it’s at 75 because Josh does not handle heat very well at all.
Yesterday I was listening to a morning news show and they had a so-called Expert who said that for every degree you adjust your thermostat above 72 you should save 3% on your bill. Well for me that is only a savings of 15% and I feel like I am roasting. I have been debating with myself all day whether the loss of comfort is worth a 15% savings. I am hoping that this so-called Expert is wrong and when I get my Electric Bill in the next few weeks, my suffering will have been worth it.
Anyways I would love to hear from some of you what your thermostat is at, so maybe it will inspire me to just deal with the heat and quit complaining.
I saw this on someone else’s blog, and thought it was really funny! I hope you all enjoy, and I would love to hear how your scenario turns out!
